Art Therapy

a powerful combination of art and psychology that can be useful when complex emotions are difficult to put into words. Art therapists are trained to help individuals, couples, and groups of all ages express themselves and pour into their creative flow!

Lauren Smith, M.Ed A.T.R.. Intern

My name is Lauren Smith and I am earning my Master of Education degree in Art Therapy at Wayne State University. This program prepares students as art therapists who are eligible to earn their Registered Art Therapist (A.T.R.) professional credentials following graduation.

I have worked with previous clients experiencing difficulties setting boundaries, managing depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, self-esteem, and survivors of abuse and/or assault. My therapeutic approach consists of humanistic, person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as the option for faith-based therapy, based on the needs of the client.

As an integrative art therapist interning at Emboldened Psychological Services, I’m looking forward to guiding you through your journey of healing, creatively.

Individual art therapy sessions offer a supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences through creative expression.

No prior art experience is needed! Only a willingness to engage with the process at your own pace.

Sessions are guided with care, choice, and intention, allowing art to become a tool for reflection, regulation, and meaning-making.
